We pulled it out of a hat

Last night’s event went pretty smoothly, considering the potential for last-minute disaster. In the hour before opening we tripped the power and one of the speakers went, and one performer couldn’t get to the venue in time. However, it all came together by 6pm, and was a lot of fun to take part in.

We pulled two running orders out of hats at the start of the event and had two performances happening simultaneously throughout the event. Highlights included Phil Archer using a webcam to follow the lines of a map, Michael Ridge preparing a salad (contact mic attached to chopping board of course), and Dot Howard taking a nap on stage. The exciting thing about the chance running order was coming across moments when one ‘song’ performance suddenly perfectly complimented the ‘theatre’ performance taking place.

A method to use in the future, I think.
